Global Luxury Brand Bets on Fiji in ‘transformational Investment’

In a landmark announcement for Fiji’s tourism and investment landscape, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica declared that the Kerzner International development on Nacula Island is “a big win for Fiji.” The project –Fiji’s first branded One&Only resort with private residences– is being developed in partnership with BSP Life.

Set in the scenic Yasawa Islands, the resort will include 40 guest rooms, suites and villas, six dining outlets, a ClubOne wellness centre, and an exclusive collection of 20 private homes. The project is slated to open in 2029 and is expected to catalyze significant economic and social benefits.

Kamikamica framed the development as more than a luxury tourism venture. “It reflects clear trust in our economy and our future,” he said, adding that the resort will boost investor confidence, create jobs, strengthen supply chains, and raise the international profile of Fiji.

Investment Fiji CEO Kamal Chetty echoed those sentiments. He said the project “goes beyond luxury tourism” and aims to promote inclusivity, resilience, and opportunity across communities impacted by the development.

The government’s joint statement underlines that this is a transformational moment: underpinned by stable governance, this kind of global investment signals Fiji’s maturity as a destination for high-quality projects.

Industry observers point out that the development brings multiple layers of value: premium tourism revenue, elevated destination branding, ancillary demand for local services (construction, hospitality, supply chain), and encouragement for further high-end real estate and tourism investment in the Pacific region.

By aligning sustainability, luxury, and community impact, the Kerzner project positions Fiji to capture more value per visitor and compete with leading small-island destinations. For the government, the challenge now is to ensure infrastructure, environmental regulation, workforce development, and community engagement all keep pace with the ambition behind the headlines.
