The 2025 Prime Minister’s International Business Awards (PMIBA) reaffirmed their status as Fiji’s premier platform for recognising business excellence, celebrating companies and leaders who have demonstrated resilience, innovation and sustainable growth in an increasingly competitive regional and global environment.
Organised by Investment Fiji, this year’s awards carried the theme “Navigating Global Winds: Resilience, Innovation, and Sustainable Growth”, signalling the importance of adaptability and long-term thinking for Pacific economies. The ceremony brought together senior industry figures, government representatives and emerging enterprises, reflecting the breadth of Fiji’s private-sector talent and the range of sectors now shaping the country’s economic trajectory.
Among the standout winners was Waste Recyclers Fiji Ltd (WRFL), which received the Best Sustainability Initiative Award for its long-running commitment to environmental stewardship and community-focused waste-management solutions. The company’s leadership described the award as an important recognition of Fiji’s growing sustainability movement and a signal that circular-economy principles are becoming integral to future national development. Their win also highlights a shift in local attitudes toward recycling, green manufacturing and responsible resource use—areas increasingly attracting investor interest and donor-supported technical assistance.
Fiji Airports Ltd also achieved major recognition, securing the Executive of the Year Award as well as the Premier Company Award, which honours businesses earning more than US$5 million in international revenue annually. The organisation’s performance reflects ongoing investment in airport infrastructure upgrades, aviation-sector resilience, and enhanced passenger services. Its leadership emphasised that the awards validate a focused strategy to elevate Fiji as a reliable aviation hub for tourism and trade.
Beyond the individual winners, the PMIBA continues to serve as a national benchmark for quality, encouraging organisations to embrace better governance, customer service, digital transformation and sustainable business practices. For SMEs, participation offers valuable visibility and a pathway into wider networks of investors, mentors and potential partners. For larger firms, it provides an opportunity to demonstrate leadership in areas such as climate resilience, innovation, export growth and workforce development.
As global economic conditions evolve, the 2025 awards underline a central message: Fiji’s private sector remains dynamic, ambitious and increasingly aligned with global standards. The businesses recognised this year reflect a broader national effort to strengthen competitiveness, deepen resilience and drive long-term, inclusive economic growth across the country.
