Business Councils’ joint delegation meets Australian Pacific Parliamentary Network

Jun 15, 2023 | Blog, News

A joint delegation of executives from our three Business Councils (Australia Papua New Guinea, Australia Fiji and Australia Pacific Islands Business Councils) had a meeting in Canberra with the Australian Pacific Parliamentary Network where we discussed our forthcoming activities.

The delegation was led by Allison Haworth West, President of the Australia Fiji Business Council, Nihal Shah, Vice-President of the Australia Papua New Guinea Business Council, and William Blank, Vice-President of the Australia Pacific Islands Business Council.

We acknowledge Josh Burns MP, and Warren Entsch MP, the convenor and co-convenor of the Pacific Parliamentary Network, for their invaluable participation and support. We truly appreciate the engagement of all the participating members, which made our discussion fruitful and insightful.

During our time in Canberra, we also had a productive meeting with the Office of the Pacific, where we delved into current Pacific business issues. We believe that these conversations will pave the way for meaningful progress and opportunities in the region.

To cap off this very productive visit, we had the pleasure of hosting an informal afternoon tea for all the Pacific diplomatic representatives in Canberra. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect, network, and strengthen the bonds between our nations.

Mark your calendars for the 27th Australia Fiji Business Forum happening in Sydney this August, and the Developing Sustainable Resilient Infrastructure in the Blue Pacific event taking place in Brisbane in September. We can’t wait to bring together brilliant minds and foster valuable collaborations in these exciting forums!

Thank you to everyone involved for making this trip a resounding success and building further on the Councils’ ongoing relationships with decision-makers in Canberra. We look forward to the positive outcomes that will arise from our collaborations and the events ahead. Stay tuned for more updates!
