Fiji’s digital economy has received a boost with the entry of India-based technology firm JMR Infotech, which has officially established its presence in the country. The expansion marks the company’s latest move in strengthening its footprint across the Asia-Pacific region, particularly in emerging markets seeking digital transformation in the financial sector.
JMR Infotech, headquartered in Bengaluru, India, specialises in digital banking solutions and enterprise software for the financial services industry. The company’s offerings include core banking implementation, digital onboarding, cybersecurity solutions, and data analytics platforms—services increasingly in demand in Fiji’s modernising financial ecosystem.
Founder and CEO Dr Jayafar Moidu said Fiji was a natural choice for expansion, given the country’s stable banking system, pro-business government policies, and growing appetite for digital innovation. “We are excited to be part of Fiji’s digital journey. Our goal is to support local financial institutions in adopting cutting-edge technologies that improve efficiency, enhance customer experience, and promote financial inclusion,” he said.
JMR Infotech’s Fiji office will initially serve banks and microfinance institutions in the country and across the Pacific Islands, positioning Fiji as a regional hub for financial tech services. The company is also expected to provide specialised training, software implementation support, and digital consulting to local clients.
The move aligns with the Fijian government’s broader push to grow the digital economy, particularly through its five-year Digital Government Transformation Programme and ongoing reforms in financial regulation and cybersecurity. Investment Fiji has welcomed the company’s entry, calling it a vote of confidence in Fiji’s IT talent and infrastructure.
In addition to enhancing the local banking technology landscape, the investment is expected to create skilled employment opportunities for Fijians in areas such as IT support, software engineering, and project management. JMR Infotech plans to collaborate with local universities and technical institutions to develop a talent pipeline for its Pacific operations.
As Fiji positions itself as a smart technology hub for the Pacific, the arrival of JMR Infotech signals a growing interest from global firms in tapping into the region’s digital growth potential.
