Fiji Airways has announced an expansion of its Adelaide-Nadi flight service, increasing frequency from two to three times weekly starting April 2025. The new schedule includes departures from Nadi every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday, offering Australian and Fijian travellers more flexibility and convenience.
The move reflects growing demand for leisure travel between Fiji and South Australia, with the airline citing strong passenger numbers since the route was reintroduced post-COVID. Tourism Fiji has also reported increased visitor arrivals from Adelaide in recent months, with Australian tourists accounting for the majority of Fiji’s visitor base.
Fiji Airways Managing Director and CEO Andre Viljoen said the expanded service is part of the airline’s broader growth strategy to strengthen its international network. “Adelaide is a key city for us in Australia. We are excited to offer travellers more choice while supporting the growing tourism and business links between our countries.”
The airline expects the added frequency to benefit not only tourists but also members of the Fijian diaspora in Australia, many of whom use the service to maintain family connections. Additionally, the service opens doors for South Australian exporters looking for reliable air freight options to the Pacific Islands.
Tourism and business stakeholders in Fiji have welcomed the announcement. The Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association noted that improved connectivity is critical to supporting hotel occupancy rates and sustaining employment in the sector. “Increased flights help us extend our reach to visitors who may not be travelling from major hubs like Sydney or Melbourne,” said CEO Fantasha Lockington.
From an Australian perspective, the South Australian Tourism Commission has also backed the expansion, stating that more direct international connections from Adelaide Airport will boost local tourism-related employment and outbound travel options.
This strategic expansion signals Fiji Airways’ confidence in sustained regional demand and its commitment to growing as a leading carrier in the South Pacific.
