Between 16 and 18 December Cyclone Yasa, a Category 5 system, crossed Fiji in a south easterly direction starting in the Yasawas, crossing Vanua Levu with significant damage in Bua and proceeding then to Lomaiviti and Lau. At 6 a .m. the Fiji Roads Authority reported that both Queens Road and Kings Road are open § Landslide at Viwa on Kings Road has been cleared § Fallen trees at Nailega just before Korovou Town in Kings Road has been cleared § 11 roads closed in the Central Division, 15 roads closed in the Eastern Division, 15 roads closed in the Western Division and 31 roads closed in the Northern Division.
Cyclone Yasa has been downgraded on 18 December to Category 4 as it passes through Lau.
